Completely-In-The-Canal (CIC)
This small size hearing aid is not suitable for persons with severe losses. CICs have cosmetic advantages but also several drawbacks. CICs are more susceptible to moisture and wax. They also have a shorter battery life. |
|
In-The-Canal (ITC)
A little bigger than the CIC, the ITC hearing aids are used for mild to moderate hearing losses. |
|
In-The-Ear (ITE)
These hearing aids can be used for a wider range of hearing losses. Due to their larger size, ITEs are also easier to handle. |
|
Behind-The-Ear (BTE)
This style is the most durable and can accommodate every degree of hearing loss. BTEs come in a variety of colors with a custom fit earmold. |
| |
Over-The-Ear (OTE)
These hearing aids are small, light weight, and versatile. They can be used by many who have a mild to moderate hearing loss. An ear mold is not needed adding to their comfort. |

Will I need a hearing aid? |
 |
It depends on your hearing loss. Everyone’s hearing loss is different. Ask a doctor or audiologist about your options. For most cases, hearing aids are proven to be the best treatment option. |
 |
Are the positive effects of amplification significant? |
 |
Absolutely. Hearing aid users are likely to report improvements in their physical, emotional, mental, and social well-being. They are more likely to be socially active, and avoid extended periods of depression, worry, and insecurity compared to non-users with hearing loss. |
 |
When choosing a facility, does it matter where I go or are they all the same? |
 |
Yes it does matter where you go, and no, they are not all the same. Choosing the right facility and professional can determine the success of your hearing aid experience. They should work with a variety of manufacturers and offer a trial period. |
Finding the Right Solution
For most people, hearing loss is some thing that occurs gradually, over time. But the warning signs are usually the same. Speech once easily heard is more difficult to understand. Everyday activities are pursued less often. Relationships with family and friends are strained. Life itself becomes less enjoyable. Therefore, the decision to invest in better hearing is one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Helping you hear better begins with a comprehensive hearing evaluation. Testing your hearing allows us to determine the level of your hearing loss and your ability to understand speech in a variety of listening situations. Following the evaluation, we will meet with you and your family to discuss the solution that’s right for you.
